What is a Split Sheet?
A split sheet is a written agreement between music contributors (songwriters, producers) that documents who owns what percentage of a song. It helps avoid disputes and ensures everyone gets paid their fair share of royalties.
Are the signatures legally binding?
SplitChord helps you collect electronic signatures and creates a record of agreement including timestamps and audit trails. While this creates a strong evidence of agreement, laws vary by jurisdiction. For high-stakes commercial releases, we always recommend consulting a music attorney.
Do I need an account to use SplitChord?
No! SplitChord uses your existing iCloud account to securely store your data. You don't need to create a separate username or password, and your data stays in your private cloud.
How does Remote Signing work?
You can send a signature request to any collaborator directly from the app. They'll receive a secure link to sign the split sheet via the web (no app required) or within the SplitChord app. Once they sign, the status updates instantly on your device.
Is my data private?
Yes. Your catalog data is stored in your private iCloud container. We (the developers) cannot see, access, or sell your song details, financial splits, or contact lists.
How does Voice Dictation work?
Voice Dictation (available in Pro) allows you to speak your song details at once. Our AI parser extracts the title, artist, album, genre, and duration automatically. It even fuzzy-matches collaborators from your list and formats spoken durations like '4 minutes 44 seconds' into '4:44'.
Can I export my splits?
Absolutely. You can generate professional PDF split sheets ready to share with your publisher, PRO (ASCAP, BMI, etc.), or label directly from the app.
